Farnborough College of Technology Refurbishment

Farnborough College – Phase 1 & 2

As part of a £10m estate redevelopment, JGA were commissioned to design the new student servery & restaurant training facilities. This was a part of the college vision “To be a leading, “beyond outstanding” 21st-century educational institution”. The college is affiliated with the Savoy Educational Trust with students benefitting from opportunities of work placements and workshops.

Phase 1- This comprised of a refurbishment of the existing dated servery arrangement that comprised of a complete replacement of the counter fascias and a refresh of the general colour scheme. A new “Grab & Go” station was created and powered by 2 Merrychef high speed ovens.

Phase 2 – This was a complete strip out and refurbishment of the existing facility. The “Gallery Restaurant” training kitchen features two stunning Charvet Island Suites complimented by a stainless-steel ventilated ceiling. The suites are all electric so contribute to the plan of decarbonising the estate. This is an open kitchen serving out via the pass to a 60 cover dining space and bar.

Challenges: Spatially this worked out very well. The most significant challenge was met by the building services engineers The MG Partnership who were tasked with converting this kitchen from a gas to an all-electric facility.

The Catering Equipment Contract value was £710k
